SHERMAN — The Sherman Players are presenting the bawdy and hilarious original musical Wreck the Halls, with music and lyrics by Brad Blake, for its holiday fare. Each iteration of this playful piece has been ever so slightly revamped, refreshing it for new and recurring audience members alike.

On a sparkly winter set this energetic and immensely talented cast sing and boogie their hearts out as they perform one irreverent gem after another. With speedy and clever costume changes, the revolving door of actors keeps a frenetic pace which kept the Saturday night audience completely engaged and entertained.

Actors Bret Bisallion, Anya Caravella, T. Sean Mayer, Jessica Smith, Priscilla Squiers, and Alex Vournzos are all brilliant and bring their brightest sense of fun to this festive romp. Their comedic timing and delivery are always spot on.

Director and choreographer Brad Blake, along with musical director Charles Smith, have unearthed every nugget of humor in Wreck the Halls and present it all seamlessly. The colors, lights, and sounds, along with some very suggestive props, all add to the silly and whimsical nature of this musical.

In the hands of this incredible cast with their infectious energy, it all comes together like a shiny new present with a big red bow.

A live and lively band featuring Charles Smith, Charles Casimiro, and Robert Kogut accompany this troop of players with precision and levity. Their sound is a perfect pairing with the revelry on stage.

All in, this merry take on the holiday season has become a tradition in these parts and how fortunate to have this creative talent in our midst. Don’t miss this year’s version of Wreck the Halls.

Performances continue weekends to December 18, with Friday and Saturday curtain at 8 pm, and 2 pm matinees Sundays, December 5 and 12. Tickets are $30 adults, $15 for students. The theater does note that due to adult humor, this show is not recommended for the younger elves.
