To the Editor:

As I write this letter, the horrific shooting in San Bernardino, Ca. on December 2nd is still an active site. The shooters are still at large and the reasons for this terrible event are unknown.  However, our Republican Presidential candidates have taken time out of their busy day to tweet in the middle of this tragedy to let us know “their thoughts and prayers” are with the victims and their families. Wow, I guess we should be comforted by these comments.

Unfortunately, I did not see any tweets from them saying the time has come for common sense gun control laws. We know it is only a matter of time before this country takes the necessary action to make this happen. However, we just don’t know how large the body count will be before Congress acts. For now the selfishness of those individuals in Congress that refuse to enact appropriate gun control legislation have blood on their hands from today’s event in California and will with future similar tragedies.
