The Newtown Middle School PTA is continuing its drive for new and gently worn used shoes Saturday, December 5, from 11 am to 1 pm at the school, 11 Queen Street.

The collection has been ongoing with drop-off days for the drive slated over the past couple of months. The drive raises funds for the PTA. This will be the final day of the shoe drive.

Those donating are asked to drive up and volunteers will take the items from there.

Kids shoes, adult shoes, boots, dress shoes, sneakers, and all other types of shoes will be accepted, according to a flyer for the event.

The shoes collected from the drive will provide inventory for micro-entrepreneurs in developing countries to help create economic sustainability.

The PTA has a goal of collecting 2,500 shoes, according to Dr Monica Kwarcinski, vice-president of the NMS PTA.
