The second annual Newtown Parks and Recreation Mason Jar Holiday Decorating Contest is running through December 15.

All ages are invited to participate in creating a holiday-themed mason jar. There is a $5 fee to enter.

The 2021-22 Winter Brochure detailed, “Purchase or recycle a mason jar and decorate it with your favorite holiday theme — get creative! Your jar can be decorated inside or out.”

Assistant Director of Recreation Rose Ann Reggiano shared, “During COVID I had to come up with a holiday idea, for we did not have any holiday events last year. I thought it would be fun for family and/or friends to get creative and create a holiday themed mason jar [like a snow globe], so why not try it again this year.”

All mason jars must be dropped off at Newtown Community Center, 8 Simpson Street, by December 15. They will remain there on display for judging.

The winner of the contest will be announced on December 21 and receive a gift basket.

To sign up for the Mason Jar Holiday Decorating Contest (Activity Code: 214102 A), visit newtown-ct.gov/parks-recreation or call 203-270-4340 for more information.
