A Memorable Thanksgiving

To the Editor:

The Knights of Columbus, the Newtown Congregational Church, and the Congregation Adath Israel wish to express our gratitude to each and every one of the persons and corporations who generously contributed with personal help or donations to the jointly sponsored Thanksgiving Dinner. When we completed the project, we had delivered over 750 meals to individuals and/or shelters and missions in the area, plus 51 turkeys to two shelters and missions to be handed out to individuals in need. The response from our community could not have been greater!

Our special thanks go to the people at the Newtown High School who provided the foundation for a very big project: Karen Cook, director of food Services, Jacki Kulikowski, cafeteria bookkeeper, Dominick Posca, director of facilities, Virginia Hettenbach, Sodexho, and Jimmy Young, custodial department. Without the high school infrastructure it would have been extremely difficult to do this task.

We also want to give special thanks to Dave Whitehead at Marcus Dairy and Tom Egan at Eastern Bag & Paper for their generous donations to this worthy cause.
