Heike Stucke Will Talk On Frida Kahlo

Popular international speaker Heike Stucke will give an illustrated lecture on Thursday, December 11, at 7:30 pm, at the Cyrenius Booth Library meeting room on the artist Frida Kahlo.

Her talk will focus on the life and art of Ms Kahlo, and it will be titled “Frida Kahlo: Her Mind, Spirit and Suffering.”

Ms Stucke, who graduated with distinction from C.W. Post, Long Island University with a master’s degree in art and a major in clinical psycho-art therapy, has been published in the American Journal of Art Therapy.

In her examination of the life and art of Ms Kahlo, Ms Stucke will draw upon her wide experience of psycho-art therapy applications. She has visited nursing homes, psychiatric facilities and numerous special educational settings. Areas of focus include personal development, abuse, bipolar disease, eating disorders, addictions, grief counseling and family therapy.

Lectures on art topics have included studies of Van Gogh, Gauguin, Monet, Munch, Cezanne, Rembrandt, Marc and the German Expressionists, including Kollwitz and Kahlo.

Ms Stucke is an active artist and her works have been exhibited throughout the region. Her current project is designing and planting a Buddhist Japanese garden at her New Fairfield home with her husband and six grandchildren.

Note: The Booth Library has scheduled a free showing of the movie Frida (Rated R) at 7:30 pm, Thursday, December 4, in the meeting room.
