WIN Salutes Newtown

To the Editor

Women Involved in Newtown would like to thank the Newtown Football Association for their dozens of bags and support. The team has started a new tradition during the last home game of the season. Canned goods and nonperishables were collected and over 20 bags were received for the WIN Thanksgiving program. We are happy to have them join our team.

Special thanks to the Halloween girls who went door to door collecting canned goods for the Thanksgiving families. They plan to expand and multiply this project. The Fireside deserves thanks for the yummy pizza; Audrey and the Girl Scouts for popcorn and helpers. St Rose’s seventh graders were a godsend. Thanks to the gym teachers at Middle Gate and Sandy Hook for the Turkey Trot. The 5/6 School lent us a hand as well as Newtown High School courtesy of Christine Elsenhans Frazer Woods, Children’s Adventure Center, Wesley, St Rose, United Methodist, Christ the King, and Grace Fellowship. For all of those not mentioned a personal thank you is in the mail.

We are so privileged to have so many care so much for those less fortunate. In hard times like these, WIN is proud to live in a town where so many open their hearts for Thanksgiving.
