Westbound traffic works its way past a 2007 Ford Edge that had rolled onto its roof following a crash around 2:50 pm Wednesday, November 23. According to Newtown Police, Brian J. Guidi, 40, of Naugatuck, was traveling east on Berkshire Road approaching the intersection with Grays Plain and Bennetts Bridge roads. Guidi told police he had the green light, and continued straight through the intersection. Colby Harrell, 17, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2007 Honda Civic EX, had been traveling north on Gray’s Plain. Harrell told police he stopped for a red light, and then began to travel straight through the intersection after the light turned green. The vehicles collided, with the Ford rolling onto its roof before coming to a stop approximately 30 feet east of the intersection, still on Berkshire. Both operators were checked by Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps for injuries, but refused further care. Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue responded to the crash. Both vehicles were towed due to damage. Due to conflicting operator accounts and other factors, fault for the crash was not immediately assigned. —Bee Photo, Hicks
