To the Editor:

This past weekend showcased some of the finest features of Newtown.

On Friday night, with the Borough bathed in the soft glow of over 1500 luminaria, we celebrated the sound of Christmas carols and witnessed — with much anticipation — the lighting of the Christmas trees on Ram Pasture.

A special thanks to Diana Johnson, Amy Mangold, and the Parks and Recreation team for their Herculean effort in making this such a special night.

On Sunday, Newtown Youth and Family Services sponsored a holiday festival that provided dozens of family activities from Edmond Town Hall to the Library to Trinity Church, just to name a few.

With mild temperatures, Main Street was bustling as Holiday entertainers set the mood for the season. I think it’s important for all of us to acknowledge that our sense of community here in Newtown is truly special and it reaffirms what we already know: “It’s nicer in Newtown.”
