Marianne H. Thompson Jacouzzi, 83, of Bethel, died December 6 at the Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of Rocco Jacouzzi, Jr.
Marianne was born in Gotha, Germany, on February 1, 1921, the daughter of the late Erik and Ernestine Emma (Blasberg) Hoph.
In addition to her husband of 22 years, Marianne is survived by her children, Roxanne Greenley of Newtown, Peter R. Thompson of Plano, Texas, Catherine Gall of Bethel, and Margaret Tinsley of Roxbury; five grandchildren, Russell Thompson, Michelle Lowe, Tiffany Lowe, Tyler Gall, and Blain Tinsley; and two nieces.
She emigrated to the United States following the beginning of World War II and moved to West Cornwall.
Marianne graduated from Western Connecticut State Teachers College in 1942, and later married Robert W. Thompson of Danbury in 1946.
A resident of Bethel since the late 1940s, Marianne was a member of the First Congregational Church of Bethel.
Marianne began her career as an elementary school teacher in the Bethel school system, teaching there from 1951 through 1958 and during that time received her masterâs degree in education from Western Connecticut State College in 1964. In 1968, she began teaching in the North Salem, N.Y., school system, from which she retired in 1984.
Marianne enjoyed an active retirement with her husband Rocco, whom she married in 1982, spending time at their home in Dorset, Vt., and fishing.
At Marianneâs request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Memorial contributions are requested to an animal charity or shelter of the donorâs choice.
The Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel was in charge of arrangements.
