Rose Mary Hoyt, 92, died peacefully Saturday, December 11. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Rosario and Mary (Andoloro) Raimonto.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur Hoyt, Jr, with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Rose is predeceased by her siblings, Charlie, Frank, Gaetano (Dusty), Josephine, Mary, and Grace.

Mrs Hoyt was a resident of Redding, Conn., for 33 years before she and Arthur retired to Hemlock Farms, Penn. Some of Rose’s many hobbies included gardening, walking, and reading. You could usually find her in the kitchen humming a tune while stirring the sauce. Cooking for her family was an act of love for her family. For many years she and her husband would host large family gatherings at their home in Redding. Whether it was a BBQ in the summer or Christmas celebrations, Rose loved cooking meals for her family and made the best spaghetti and meatballs! She had a love for animals, especially for a stray cat that she and Arthur took in and affectionately named Pumpkin.

Rose leaves behind her loving children and their spouses: Michael Hoyt and his wife, Diane, of New Milford, Conn., Jeanne Hoyt Kozenieski and husband, Peter, of Southbury, Conn., and Ray Hoyt and his wife, Betsy, of Sandy Hook, Conn. She leaves behind nine grandchildren: Karen, Katherine, Jim, Rosy, Becky, Andrea, Kevin, Matthew, and Lindsay. Rose also leaves behind six great-grandchildren: Christopher, Cecelia, Ava, Natalie, Sean, and Samantha.

A private celebration of life will take place.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America, dementiasociety.org.

Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown is serving the family.
