Holiday Closings: Christmas And New Year's

The next two issues of The Newtown Bee will be printed and mailed on their regular schedule, despite Christmas and New Year’s Day. Due to an extended print run of the December 24 edition, however, the deadlines for all contributed materials, including obituaries and classified ads will be 3 pm December 22.

The print edition of December 24 featuring our annual holiday graphic will be mailed Thursday, December 23 to every Newtown residential address, PO Box, and business. The print edition of December 31 will be mailed December 30.

The newspaper office will be closed December 24 and 31. It will reopen at 8 am on Monday, December 27 and Monday, January 3.

Holiday Closings, Other Schedule Changes

All town offices and agencies will close at noon Thursday, December 23, and remain closed until 8 am, Monday, December 27, for the Christmas holiday weekend.

The transfer station at the former landfill on Ethan Allen Road will close at 11 am Friday, December 24. It will remain closed Christmas Day, and reopen Monday, December 27, at 7 am.

C.H. Booth Library will close at 1 pm Thursday, December 23, and remain closed Christmas Eve and Day. It will reopen Sunday, December 26, at 12:30 pm.

The same schedule will be followed the following week, for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, for town offices, the transfer station, and the town library.

Newtown’s public schools will have early dismissal on Thursday, December 23, and then be closed through Friday, December 31. Classes will resume Monday, January 3.

In addition, there will be no regular mail delivery on December 25 or January 1; both are United States Postal Service holidays.

Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles offices continue to operate by appointment only. Many services are being completed online. Visit portal.ct.gov/DMV for details.
