Newtown 37 Danbury 28 â The Lady Hawks opened up their Tri-County Basketball League competition with a victory over Danbury. Newtown was down 11-9 at the half and come out fired up in the third quarter to outscore Danbury 17-7. Ally Modzelewski anchored the defense while Sara Kelley led the scoring with 11 points. Kaitlin Marsden chipped in six points and grabbed five rebounds as Jennifer Daily, Nicole Elias, Kate Bowen, and Carolyn Fagan combined for 17 points.
Newtown 29 Prospect 19 â Sara Kelley lead all scorers with 11 points while Susan Mason chipped in six points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds to lead the locals to the win. Stephanie Suhoza and Ally Modzelewski scored four points apiece.

Newtown 24, Washington-Roxbury 13 â Ali Pliszka and Lauren Meyer scored eight points each and Andrea Nazer chipped in four to lead Newtown to the win. Maggie Donohue and Mara Scallon also scored. Alex Grant and KellyAnne Brophy led the tough defense.
Weston 36, Newtown 28 â Andrea Nazer led the way with 12 points and Ali Pliszka added six in a loss to Weston. Alex Grant, KellyAnne Brophy and Maggie Donohue combined for the other ten points. Meghan Loose and Mara Scallon played good defense.

Huskies 53, Rockets 20 â Erik Dreher scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Huskies. Jared Modzelewski dished off four assists and Nick Urso made six steals. For the Rockets, Sean Ryan canned seven points and Conor McManus had four steals. Nick Ciarelli and Chris Murphy played well.
Lakers 43, 76ers 40 â Matt Mascolo scored 23 points as the Lakers nipped the Sixers. JR Shine, Chris Marks and Ryan Boucher played well. For the Sixers, Tom Jackman popped in 16 points as Eddie White, AJ Ritchie and Walter Murphy had fine games.
Spurs 36, Knicks 18 â Paul Andras popped in 11 points and Kurtis Liska added eight as the Spurs defeated the Knicks. Jason Kostecki added seven points. For the Knicks, Alex Magoulas scored eight points and John Aminti added six. Ben Speigel was strong off the glass.
Bullets 42, Timberwolves 33 â Conor Martin scored 18 points and Joe Cappiello grabbed 12 rebounds as the Bullets eased past the T-Wolves. Steve Oberstadt dished off six assists and Kyle McNamara made seven steals. For the T-Wolves, Dan Giorno canned 16 points and Mike Whitley-Rodriguez added seven. Mike Iorfino played well.
Nitro 51, Sonics 49 â Matt Brede canned 10 points and Kyle DiNicola added eight to lead the Nitro to the win. Zach Varga scored eight points and dished off eight assists while Matt Narel and Eric Riordan combined for 13 points. For the Sonics, Adam Margulies poured in 16 points while Tyler Edwards, Tyler Tarantino (whose last-second shot fell short) and Will Mahony played well.
Yellow Submarines 46, Kings 27 â Josh Baron poured in 18 points and Jacob Burg added 10 to lead the Subs to the win. Jimmy OâBrien and Steve Osmolik played well. For the Kings, Bret Mauro, Adam Schankman, Rob OâDonnell and David Manville all played well.
Wildcats 55, Jazz 27 â Jake DeVellis canned 24 points and Ryan Golankiewicz added 12 as the Wildcats clawed the Jazz. Ben Neff dragged down 10 rebounds and Charlie LoBosco had three blocks. For the Jazz, Alex Miesel and Jake Woolf combined for 15 points while Brendan Martin sparked the defense.
Junior Girls

Nightmare 31, Rockets 21 â Jen Brill led the Nightmare with 13 points and Betsy Vendel added five steals in the win over the Rockets. Taylor Ansbro grabbed six rebounds and Caroline Kraich played a solid defensive game. For the Rockets, Belle Hydock scored six, Colleen Thornberg chipped in with five, and Rachel Fossum and Rachael Marlin scored four points apiece. Diana Curcuruto grabbed 8 rebounds and had a terrific all around game.
Huskies 27, Bulldogs 19 â Kristen Gucciardo led the Huskies over the Bulldogs with 10 points while Kelley Sullivan added five assists and Bethany Morin grabbed five rebounds. Jen Spannedda and Bryony Langdon had great games on defense. Colleen Murphy led the Bulldogs with eight points with Laura Newberry contributing seven steals and Katherine Stanton pulling down six rebounds.
Lightning 36, Blue Devils 18 â Katie Power and Meaghan Trosan scored 14 points each to lead the Lightning over the Blue Devils. Keegan Frobey played solid defense and Ines Hutchinson was strong off the boards. Haley Keane led the Blue Devils with six points with Lauren Clark chipping in with four points and four rebounds. Megan Hansen had three assists while Zoe Rabinowitz and Makena Cunningham turned in fine games on defense.
Pacers 42, Lightning 29 â Jacklyn Petrasanta and Renata Villarreal combined for 24 points in the win over the Lightning. Carly Doherty added six points and four rebounds. For the Lightning, Meghan Trosan scored 15 points, Jen OâConnell had two assists, and Ashley Soucar grabbed three rebounds. Stephanie Soder had three steals and played solid defense.
Intermediate Boys

Sonics 24, Huskies 11 â Tory Deakin and Tucker Schmidt combined for 14 points as the Sonics defeated the Huskies. Scott Boisvert and Evan Triantafilidis played well. For the Huskies, Alex Martens canned six points while Chris Caulfield, Shamus Boyle and Cameron Gorhman played well.
Nets 30, Lakers 10 â Kyle McCarthy and Joe Fedak combined for 14 points to power the Nets. Chris Winters (four steals) and Tom Masher (six rebounds) played well. For the Lakers, Shaun Wurtz had eight points while Michael Shevlin had five steals and Ryan Korth had seven rebounds. Vince LaFrancesca played well on D.
Screaming Eagles 23, Gators 17 â Jeff Spencer popped in 10 points to lead the Screaming Eagles to the win. Robbie Phillips and Matt Datin played well. For the Gators, Jamie Bowers had five points as Johnny Fracker and Kevin Dill had strong performances.
Knicks 43, Celtics 36 â CJ Portolese poured in 18 points and Trevor Todd dished off 10 assists to lead the Knicks to the win. Yanni Koutmos grabbed eight boards. For the Celtics, Dana Hansen and Evan Kennedy combined for 18 points as Michael George and Jeff Keating paced the defense.
Nighthawks 31, Bullets 23 â Jamey Tibbetts popped in 12 points and Kyle OâConnor added 11 to lead the Nighthawks to the victory. James Sharpe, Jake Barrett and Oliver Powers played well. For the Bullets, Sam Kerr and Matt Hamilton combined for 15 points. Andre Capozziello and Conor Barrett had strong games.
Wildcats 42, Grizzlies 26 â Ben Miles canned 10 points and Andrew Golankiewicz grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Wildcats to the win. Matt Baier made six steals and Leo Spinelli dished off eight assists. For the Grizzlies, Ryan Daly scored eight points and grabbed eight rebounds while Ryan Powers dished off 12 assists and Andrew Murphy made six steals.

Shamrocks 30, Bulls 27 â Annie Fletcher scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Shamrocks to the win. Meghan Gibbons had six assists, Emily Rowe three steals, and Lisa Vendel an all-around good game. For the Bulls, Brittany Bauch and Mary Plavnicky combined for 14 points as Jessica Fossum and Meghan Wilson played well.
Huskies 35, Gaels 31 â Brittany Wiberg scored 16 points and Ellen Ritzinger added four to lead the Huskies. Jillian Jagoe and Kathleen Cummings had solid performances. For the Gaels, Meredith LaPerch popped in 14 points and Michelle Rahtelli added four. Danielle Rubino played well.
Suns 24, Liberty 21 â Katie Pessin scored 10 points as the Suns trimmed the Liberty. Tory Picerno was strong off the glass and on defense while Lauren Powers and Taylor Benson had key baskets in the fourth period. Katie McMorran played well. For the Liberty, Meghan Bridges canned 10 points and Lindsey Burns added four. Christina Naldini and Lainey Audet played well.
Suns 28, Comets 21 â Hannah Basch-Gould scored 16 points as the Suns earned the win. Pam Rothenberg, Sara Benson and Amanda Swift played well on defense and dragged down several rebounds. For the Comets, Emma Kingsley poured in 12 points as Sammy Lockhart (three assists), Gina Pisacreta (two steals) and Christina Errico (four rebounds) played well.

Cougars versus Blue Devils â Dominick Fedak, Dave Tortora, Christina Mather and Patrick Sullivan led the Cougars while Trey Trudell, Tomas Nazer, Nicky Sajovic and Mac Morlock led the Devils.
Raptors versus Thundercats â Gavin Scallon, Colin Cooper, Dan Gustafson and Robbie Hughes powered the Raptors as Evan Wexler, Scott Schmidt, Robert Uhde and Jacob Feinstein anchored the âCats.
Wizards versus 76ers â Taylor Stiemle and Dave Gerics led the Wizards as Kevin Dennis, David Cartisano and Robert Andreotta powered the Sixers.
Lakers versus Orangemen â Brandon Marks, Luke Shearin, Kyle Wilcox, Eric Song and Matt Shannon led the Lakers while Devin DiNicola, Tim McGrath, Tanner Sowa and Kevin Phillips had good performances for the Orangemen.
Vipers versus Gators â Travis Szalay led the Vipers while Dan Gallagher, Brennan Merrick, Max Bolinsky and Charlie Helgren played well for the Gators.
Hurricanes versus Gators â Michael Daubert, Erick Samuelson, Dillon Kelley and Dan Herbert had solid performances for the Hurricanes as Daniel Gallagher, Sam Ashey, Kyle Harrington and Ben Stoller powered the Gators.
Hurricanes versus Bulldogs â Kyler Harmeling, John Scharfenberg, Michael Senf and Charlie Pryor played well for the Hurricanes while Kevin LeBlanc, Mason West and Eric Fiore had strong performances for the Bulldogs.
Bulldogs versus Nighthawks â Sean Ross, Michael LoBosco and Jacob Leighton powered the Bulldogs as Pat Haggerty, Evan Swain, Mike Lord and Kevin Shpunt anchored the Nighthawks.
Cardinals versus Rockets â Cameron McCleary, Johnny Kerins, Jimmy Russo and Ryan OâKeefe had solid games for the Cardinals as Austin Bonadio, Sean Elliott, Robbie Russo and Greg Horne had good games for the Rockets.

Knicks versus Hoopsters â Morgan Hooper led the Knicks while Courtney Escoda, Natalie Landfair, Alexandria DeWolf and Jenna Poeltl played well for the Hoopsters.
