Donald MacHale

Donald MacHale, 82, husband of Frances (Smith) MacHale, of Newtown, died December 13 at River Glen Health Care Center, Southbury.

Mr MacHale was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 25, 1921, a son of the late Frank and Jennie (Davis) MacHale. He was raised and educated in Scranton, Penn.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, D.J. MacHale and his wife Eve of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Patricia Hantin of Norwalk, and Kathy Derby of Tampa, Fla., four step-daughters: Susan Lek of New York City, Roberta Ramik of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Virginia Demio and Nancy Dennert, both of Trumbull; three grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Mr MacHale had a long career in retail sales as a buyer for the May Department Stores and retired as Regional Manager for Caldor, Inc. He was a former resident of Greenwich and lived in Palm Bay, Fla., for 27 years before moving to Newtown in October 2001.

Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
