Fogliano Resigns Post On P&Z

Longtime Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) Republican member Daniel Fogliano, who was formerly a chairman of the land use agency, has resigned from the panel.

In a brief December 12 letter to P&Z Chairman William O’Neil, Mr Fogliano of Brushy Hill Road wrote, “It is with much sadness that I must tender my resignation from my position on the Planning and Zoning Commission effective today. I will truly miss being part of such a dedicated and capable group of people.”

Mr Fogliano’s departure leaves a Republican P&Z vacancy on the land use panel.

Mr Fogliano became a P&Z member in the fall of 1996, during a period when the panel faced strong public protests over the negative effects of continued residential growth, plus calls for a moratorium on new development.

Mr Fogliano served as P&Z chairman from December 1999 to August 2002. As the agency’s vice chairman from the spring of 1997 to December 1999, Mr Fogliano often served as the acting chairman in the absence of former member Stephen Koch. Mr Koch, who was then the P&Z‘s chairman, was often away on business.

Mr O’Neil, a Republican, has been P&Z chairman since August 2002.
