Gala Concert Rescheduled

LITCHFIELD — A unique Christmas Gala Chamber Music Concert will be presented at First Congregational Church of Litchfield, on the green, on Sunday, December 21, at 4 pm. The event was originally planned for December 5.

Admission to the concert is free. Freewill offerings will be accepted.

The concert will include a suite of favorite carols performed by the Connecticut Classic String Quintet as arranged by the eminent and beloved Woodbury composer, Leroy Anderson. Also on the program are his famous “Sleigh Ride,” a solo appearance by the noted Connecticut cellist Thirzah Bendokas, and Chopin’s B minor Scherzo performed by guest pianist David Johnson. The scherzo will contain the traditional Polish Christmas carol “Lulajze Jezuniu.” The Connecticut Classic Cello Choir will also perform.

One of Mozart’s extraordinary “cello quartets” will be heard in its entirety, the children’s classic “Jingle Bells” will also be performed, and the concert will conclude with an old-fashioned Christmas carol sing. There will also be a small gift for each member of the audience.
