Glad To Be Part Of Newtown
Glad To Be Part
Of Newtown
To the Editor:
On November 16 and on December 14, we went before the Planning and Zoning Commission to ask permission to board horses on our property. We were deeply touched by all the people who came out to show their support. Even though Newtown continues to grow and develop, we have not grown so large that strangers do not come out to support a cause. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the members of our community who affirmed all the wonderful benefits associated with horses and the farming tradition. Our thanks go out to the members of Newtownâs horse community who took the time to share their expert knowledge on stable management, farming practices, and animal husbandry. They reminded us of the importance of farms, open spaces, and community planning. They spoke eloquently of the importance of a diverse community, one where the farm and the subdivision can coexist. Words can not describe how much we appreciate everyoneâs effort to preserve our farm.
Most of all we would like to thank our neighbors George Fitzgerald, Harvey Lannak, and Rosemary Barret of Morgan Drive and the Zanfinis of Stonegate Drive, all of whom have stood by us throughout the years. They have provided a continuous source of encouragement to us. We feel very fortunate to have such good friends as neighbors. The support of our friends and neighbors reminds us of all the reasons we moved to Newtown. We moved here because we appreciated Newtownâs rural charm, its farming tradition, and its New England character. But most of all we were attracted to Newtownâs friendly community and their dedication to the town they live in. We are glad to be part of Newtown and grateful to have our faith restored in its people.
Sincerely,
Annette and Brian Sullivan
