Fused Glass At Burnham Library
Fused Glass At Burnham Library
BRIDGEWATER â Linda Banks of New Preston has been selected as the featured artist for January at The Burnham Library. She will exhibit samples of her fused glass pieces through the end of the month.
Mrs Banks uses flat glass made especially for fusing or melting together in a kiln to create designs in beautiful colors and whimsical creatures that delight the viewer, especially when seen with sun shining through them.
Mrs Banks apprenticed at Plumb Hill Studio at Fletcher Farm in Vermont. She first worked with colored glass in a school project as a child. She worked in the studio of the woman who first introduced her to fused glass, then moved on to Corning, N.Y., and finally to Vermont.
She has had her own studio for five years in New Preston. Mrs Banks teaches classes at Brookfield Craft Center and Washington Art Association, and also after-school programs and adult education. She has had exhibits of her glass in many area galleries.
Burnham Library is on Route 133 in Bridgewater. Hours are Tuesday, 1 to 5 pm; Wednesday, 9 am to 6 pm; Thursday, 9 am to 5 pm; and Saturday, 9 am to 1 pm.
