Girls 8th

Wilton 48, Newtown 29 – Jennifer Daily and Kate Bowen combined for 20 points as Newtown fell in a non-league contest. Kristen Errico and Lindsey Burns were strong off the boards for the Hawkeyes.

Newtown 44, Weston 32 – Sara Kelley scored 16 points while Jennifer Daily netted nine as Newtown remained undefeated in league play at 5-0. Kait Marsden and Kate Bowen combined for 13 points while Megan Bridges chipped in four. Nicole  Elias was strong off the boards while Ally Modzelewski played well defensively.

Boys 6th

Fairfield 48, Newtown 45 – Josh Barrett canned 15 points, including three three-pointers, to lead the Newtown in a loss. Kevin LeBlanc  also knocked down a pair of three-pointers and Kyle Wilcox chipped in with six points. Will Fletcher gave a strong defensive performance and Dan Gallagher showed good control on the floor.

St. Theresa’s of Trumbull 51, Newtown 23 – Eric Samuelson, Mason West and Kyle Wilcox led the defensive effort against a strong Trumbull team. Trey Trudell led the Newtown offense with six points while Austin Bonadio and Anthony Berarducci combined for nine points.

Newtown 35, Weston 32 – Danny Gallagher scored nine points and Taylor Steimle added eight as Newtown rallied from a five-point deficit for the win. Trey Trudell popped in six points while Anthony Berarducci drained a key three-pointer late in the fourth quarter.

Boys 5th

Newtown 37, Fairfield 14 – A relentless defensive effort led to another win for the Hawks in this lopsided affair. Conner Quinn led all scorers with 10 points while Dan Hebert and David Gerics combined for 14 more. Reid Schmidt (five rebounds, two steals), Pieter Martino (four rebounds, steal) and Sean Elliott (two steals) led the Hawks defensively. Jake Feinstein and Wyatt Dupuy had excellent all around games, hustling constantly on defense.

Brookfield 36, Newtown 34 – The Hawks dropped a heart-breaker to a scrappy Brookfield team that just would not quit in their frigid home gym. Conner Quinn (eight points), Gavin Scallon (three points, four rebounds) and Nick Gerbo (four points) provided the offensive support for Newtown. Sam Ashey had a great overall game, pulling down five boards and playing tough defense under the basket.

Girls 5th

Newtown 21, Redding 16 – Bridget Power and Erin Kenning were the offensive threats for the Attack while Clare Miles and Brittany Tolla kept the pressure on defense all afternoon. Meaghan Harkins and Tressa Scott were all over the floor scrambling for loose balls.

Darien 18, Newtown 16 – Catie Yakush and Kristiana Engler combined for eight points with numerous assists by Stephanie Roman and Samantha Steimle. Maddy Good sparked the defense as Julia [Stix] Trudell pulled down four rebounds on the day.

New Canaan 27, Newtown 25 – Tressa Scott and Clare Miles paced the Attack’s offense while Bridget Power and Samantha Steimle were aggressive against a strong team.

Wilton 27, Newtown 17 – Maddy Good and Catie Yakush crashed the boards hard and Kristiana Engler and Stephanie Roman anchored the offense of the Attack.

New Canaan Tournament – The Attack registered victories over New Canaan and Westport and a loss against Weston in the Darien Tournament. Clare Miles, Erin Kenning, Samantha Steimle, Kristiana Engler, Tressa Scott and Meaghan Harkins scored baskets in the Westport game. Brittany Tolla, Stephanie Roman, Maddy Good, Julia Trudell and Bridget Power scored baskets against New Canaan.

Intermediate Girls

Suns 17, Blue Angels 12 – Jackie Kissack scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Suns past the Angels. Kelly O’Sullivan, Olivia Phenix and Grace Winans had strong floor games. For the Angels, Carlie Gehrman had seven points while Taylor Brady (five assists), Christian Caporale (four steals) and Mareena Mallory (six rebounds) played well.

Suns 44, Huskies 10 – Stefanie Clavette poured in 16 points and Jessica Haitz added 14 to lead the Suns to the win. Sarah Stofko, Kyra Middeleer and Courtney Campbell anchored the D. For the Huskies, Lindsay Jossick had eight points as Shannon DiLorio, Ally Kennedy and Emily Cannavo played well.

Da Bears 26, Gaels 12 – Kristy Papaj canned eight points and Jessica Gibbons tossed in four as Da Bears rolled to the win. Katie Salaris and Rachel DiVanno played well. For the Gaels, Lauren Meyer had four points as Elizabeth Eiseman, Caitlin Gibney and Jane Sclafani played well.

Liberty 30, Regulators 24 – Katie Possum popped in 10 points and Kiersten Lynch dragged down 10 rebounds to power the Liberty. Sara Rose Hasselburger had four steals. For the Regulators, Michaele Beaudry had eight points, Julie Ficks dished off five assists and Hannah Dillon sparked the D.

Knicks 34, Orange Crush 17 – Nicole Rotante scored 10 points and Eric Kroesen grabbed six rebounds to lead the Knicks to the win. Alison Monaco had a fine floor game. For the Crush, Madeline Keane scored 10 points while Caroline Kingsley dished off four assists as Katherine Lotrecchiano played well on defense.

Intermediate Boys

Vipers 33, Rockets 16 – Jeff Grasso and Kyle Harrington combined for 10 points as the Vipers defeated the Rockets. Rob Russo and Mac Morlock played well. For the Rockets, Mike Greenwood canned eight points while Troy Larsen and Peter Kung had solid games.

Spurs 36, Thunder 13 – Colin Morris popped in 10 points and the Spurs rolled to the win. Charlie Helgren, Phillip Reynolds, Brandon Marks and Ryan Palmer all played well. For the Thunder, Ryan Dunnigan and Kyle Hagerman combined for 11 points as Matt Spencer and Justin Cherry put together strong floor games.

Regulators 38, Panthers 33 – Mike Lord canned 12 points and Brian LeBlanc added 10 more to lift the Panthers to the win. Mario Pitzighelli and Brendan Cooper played well. For the Panthers, Austin Ekstrom poured in 25 points while Dean Lindquist and Travis Szalay had fine performances.

Hurricanes 35, Blue Knights 17 – Mike LoBosco dropped in 12 points to lift the Hurricanes to the win. Dean Demers, Connor Blanc and Evan Swain all played well. For the Knights, Dillon Kelly canned five points as Rich Sandler, Mike Gregorio and Pat Sullivan had solid efforts.

Bears 39, Huskies 26 – Kevin Phillips scored 19 points and Greg Frattaroli grabbed 10 rebounds as the Bears captured the win. Devin DiNicola dished off six assists and Tag Schmidt had four steals. For the Huskies, Sean Burson and Jack McManus popped in eight points apiece.

Bears 34, Grizzlies 15 – Kevin Phillips popped in 12 points to lead the Bears past the Grizzlies. Alex Roche, Jim Mooney and Tom Bauer had strong games. For the Grizzlies, Justin DeVellis canned eight points as Kory Kling (three assists), Kyle Buckley (two steals) and Austin Ryder (four rebounds) played well.

Knicks 48, Grizzlies 21 – Dave Lucia scored 10 points and Joe Davis, Brendan Callery and Peter Kerns put forth solid efforts to lead the Knicks to the win. For the Grizzlies, Justin DeVellis dropped in 11 points while Pat Capozziello, Josh Villa and Adam Oeberg played well.

Nighthawks 39, Raptors 16 – Sean Ross poured in 22 points to lift the Nighthawks. Trevor Carey, Christian Mather and Hunter Lowe had solid floor games. For the Raptors, Don Morrissey scored six points as Rob Hughes and Harrison Buzzi played well.

Bullets 35, Blazing Warriors 33 – Mike Lengel scored 18 points as the Bullets nipped the Warriors. Sam Langdon, Ryan Seymour and Colin Moller played well. For the Warriors, Colin Cooper poured in 20 points as Matt Sharpe, Mike Calderone and Michael Scharfenberg played well.

Bantam Girls

Wildcats 21, Mighty Chicks 6 – Kate Butera scored eight points while Emily Maher, Emily Davis and Cassie Ekstrom added four apiece to lead the Wildcats to the win. For the Chicks, Mary-Joe Rosso scored four points and Morgan Machiaruto added two.

Liberty 34, Huskies 8 – Kerry and Danielle Shine combined for 26 points to lead the Liberty. For the Huskies, Rachel M. had four points.

Wildcats 4, Lady Vols 4 – Emily Davis and Cassie Ekstrom scored two points apiece for the Wildcats while Carly Ferris and Kristie Vos Winkle scored two points apiece for the Vols in this deadlock. For the ‘Cats, Jacklyn Daly and Emily Maher played well on defense. For the Vols, Megan Logan and Karlie Kuligowski played well.

Bantam Boys

Knicks 25, Cavaliers 18 – Tom Gleason popped in 14 points to lead the Knicks to the win. Virgil Procaccini and Jordan Sock played well. For the Cavs, Jim Leidlein had four points as Nick Strokis, Mitch Stewart and Jason Horowitz played well.

Nighthawks 34, Blue Devils 24 – Chase Wurtz dropped in 10 points as the ‘Hawks overcame the Devils. Conor Gallagher, Daniel Winn and Dan Spillane played well. For the Devils, Chris Carroll had 12 points while Colton Smith, Nick Klein and Julian Dunn had strong performances.

Huskies 20, Celtics 19 – Matt Hoyt canned 10 points as the Huskies nipped the Celtics. Brian Arnold and Connor Anderson had strong games. For the Celtics, Mike Davis scored 12 points and Tom Floros added four more. Grandon Smith and Justin Weiner (four rebounds) played well.

Runnin’ Raiders 30, Yellowjackets 21 – Andrew Tarantino poured in 16 points and Dominic Scarangella pulled down six rebounds to lead the Raiders to the win. Brenden Peterson dished off four assists and Matt Villamanna made three steals. For the ‘Jackets, Troy Frangione had nine points and Jack Martin had four more. Sean Reilly and Sam Boland had fine floor games.

Midget Boys

Red Devils versus Heat – Michael Parker, Jarod Brady, Michael Doyle and Jack Beal played well for the Red Devils while Mathew Carino, Eric Street and Nick Lotrecchiano played well for the Heat.

Blue Dragons versus Grey Eagles – Jason Ferrari, Gordon Walsh, Sam Czel and Jerl Draper played well for the Dragons while Harry Depuy, Mason Melillo, Bobby Archieri and Kevin Chernoff powered the Eagles.

Razors versus Purple Tigers – Kevin Conte, Michael O’Keefe, Joey Duero and Richard Ciamarra led the Razors as Jacob Burden, Jeremy Salaris, Billy Cosgrove and Jackson Cryder had fine floor games for the Tigers.

Tigers versus Destroyers – Michael Cirone, John Carlson, Matthew Maturo and Jimmy Craig played well for the Tigers while the Destroyers got good performances from Ethan Burg, Jack Condon, Spencer Johnson and Trevor Lopez.

Dragons versus Hawks – Will Swain, Nick Cirone, Hunter Booker and Liam McInerny had good games for the Dragons as Jordan Chipman, Daniel Domero, David Bauch and Jake Lapp powered the Hawks.

Wild Armadillos versus Blue Jays – Austin Carfi, Alex Gerbo, Albert Dean and Steven Faxlander played well for the Armadillos as Connor Roche, Matt Elias, Austin LeBlanc and Joe Carino powered the Jays.

Bulldogs versus Knights – John Rospenda, Kevin Ovendorf, Declan Sullivan and Tim VanderHave led the ‘Dogs as Connor LeMay, Jaret DeVellis, David Kent and Nick Rubino led the Knights.

Lightning Bolts versus Great White Sharks – Max Rucinski, Jacob Hill, Zach Aumueller and Matt Gerks played well for the Bolts as the Sharks got good performances from  Shawn McCarthy, Ryan Szalay, Sam Duffy and Robby McCabe.

Midget Girls

Red Tigers versus Hyper Hippos – Brianna Baranoski, Hannah Booth, Kathryn Kerins and Emma DeFlumeri played well for the Tigers while Casey Harkins, Amelia Muratori, Maren Brady and Abbie Kohler powered the Hippos.

Blasting Blueberries versus Orange Tigers – Taylor Lafave, Katie Laaksonen, Julia Scarangella and Sarah Spillane led the Blueberries while Ashley Marks, Haley Ryan, Cauley Cohane and Sarah Bender powered the Tigers.

Yellowjackets versus Shooting Stars – Jenna Hansen, Celia Gold, Michaela Jackman and Avery Griffen led the ‘Jackets as the Stars received good performances from Madeleine Strokis, Hanna Amaripour, Cassie Fischer and Emily Turco.
