After seven weeks of frantic action, things are still too close to call in The Gym At Newtown Women’s Basketball League.

Denmo’s and Newtown Mobil are tied for first at 5-2 while Colorgraphics and Imagine This are tied for third at 4-3. Even Walsh Logging is still hanging on in fifth place at 3-4, just two games out of first. The Gym at Newtown has yet to win a game.

Shelby Neveriski leads the league, scoring at a 29.5 per game clip. Ruth Rowe is scoring at a 23.0 per game clip. Jody Rajcula and Maura Keenan lead the league in rebounds while Amy Proulx is the assists leader.

Last week, Newtown Mobil defeats Imagine This, 59-52, as Proulx and Lynn Lattanzio hit key free throws in the final minutes. Karen Katrinak had a strong effort, leading Newtown Mobil with 22 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot. Lattanzio dropped in 15 points and had 14 rebounds, six steals and three assists. Proulx chipped in with 12 points, seven assists and two rebounds. Charlotte DuBail added 10 points and five assists. For Imagine This, Neveriski popped in 25 points and added six steals and six rebounds. Kelly Fegler added 14 points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots. Suzanne Marsan chipped in with nine points while Bonnie Willie and Amy Mangold contributed with two each.

Denmo’s continued its winning ways with a 48-39 victory over Walsh Logging. Rajcula and Kim Lowell each scored 14 points and combined for 22 rebounds. Holly Ferguson added 12 points and eight rebounds wihile Laura Cook and Stephanie Trolle combined for eight points and eight rebounds. For Walsh Logging, Tracy Pellela had a strong game with 21 points and six rebounds. Ruth Rowe added 11 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Megan LaCava contributed with seven points and six rebounds before she went down with an ankle injury.

Colleen Ruiz scored 27 points as Colorgraphics defeated The Gym At Newtown, 57-40. Ruiz contributed 11 rebounds and two assists. Karen Powell and Maura Keenan each had 14 points and combined for 30 rebounds, six assists, four steals and four blocked shots. Peg Bowers added two points. For The Gym, Carolyn Signorelli scored 26 points (including a three-pointer) and added six steals and seven rebounds. Carolyn Schreiber chipped in with six points and nine rebounds while Janet Duffy and Joan Plavnicky each contributed with four points and combined for eight rebounds and four steals.
