B&G Raffle Winner Picked

Greg Eisen of Brookfield was the lucky winner of the Newtown Blue & Gold Booster Club raffle and will have his choice of several major professional sporting events to attend in 2004. Mr Eisen’s ticket was drawn during halftime of the Newtown High School girls’ basketball game against – oddly enough – Brookfield last Friday.

Marcus Tracy was selected to draw the winning ticket, as it was the boys’ soccer team that sold the most tickets (254). The raffle raised a net of $18,193.35 for Blue & Gold and 20% of that ($6,036) went back to the teams for taking part in the fundraiser. The $12,157.35 left over will be used for some added improvements on the back fields at Newtown High School (i.e., a building for equipment storage and rest rooms).

After the boys’ soccer team, the cheerleaders (215), football team (161) and girls’ soccer team (104) were the top sellers. Noreen Barrett (80) was the top individual seller and earned $1,200 in gift certificates. Alex Helfer (71) earned $800 in gift certificates and Kimberly Solheim (45) earned $500 in gift certificates for finishing third and $350 in gift certificates for having sold the winning ticket.
