Three Youths Charged In Vandalism Spree
Police have charged three local youths each with first degree criminal mischief, which is a felony, in connection with a string of vandalism incidents that occurred around Halloween, on October 30 and 31.
First degree criminal mischief involves more than $1,500 of property damage.
Arrested on warrants on December 19 were Sean Surat, 18, of 25 Boggs Hill Road; Geoffrey Schreiner, 17, of 21 Mohawk Trail; and Jonathan Morgan, 16, of 147 Lakeview Terrace, police said.
Police said the charges stem from acts of vandalism that occurred at locations including Kent Road, Castle Hill Road, Old Castle Road, Schoolhouse Hill Road, and Cherry Street.
Police allege that the three youths used a baseball bat to smash residential mailboxes and break decorative lighting fixtures positioned along driveways at ten different residences. Overall property damage is estimated at $3,665, police said.
Police released all three youths on promises to appear in court. Schreiner is scheduled for a court arraignment on January 8. Surat and Morgan are scheduled to appear in court on January 14.
