Vehicles Damaged

Police are investigating two reports of vehicular damage, which they received on December 17.

Vehicles that were parked on the road or parked near the road at Old Castle Drive and at Taunton Lake Road were damaged by someone. Police ask anyone with information on the matter to contact them at 426-5841.

Paugussett Road

Motorist Emily Johnson, 16, of 25 Cedar Hill Road was driving a 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass southward on Paugussett Road, as motorist Cynthia Stierle, 36, of 2 Forest View Drive was driving a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country minivan northward there at about 2:30 pm on December 17, police said.

The Oldsmobile crossed the road’s center line and collided with the Chrysler, police said. There were no injuries.

Police issued Johnson a written warning for failure to drive to the right.

Castle Hill Crash

Motorist James Rouse, 16, of 14 Ashford Lane was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee westward near 117 Castle Hill Road at about 8:30 pm December 12, when while negotiating a left curve, the Jeep slid into the eastbound lane, police said. The vehicle went onto the eastbound road shoulder, then went back across both road lanes before striking a tree on the westbound road shoulder, police said.

Neither Rouse nor a passenger were injured, police said. Ambulance volunteers and Newtown Hook and Ladder firefighters went to the accident.

Police issued Rouse an infraction ticket for failure to keep to the right on a curve.

Reservoir Road

Motorist Pamela McLaughlin, 42, of 11 Reservoir Road was driving a 2001 Saab station wagon northward on that street about 9:20 am December 18, when the auto slid on ice and struck a utility pole, police said. McLaughlin experienced minor neck and back pain from the mishap, police said.

Lakeview Terrace

Motorist John Schreiner, 35, of 21 Mohawk Trail, who was driving a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup truck eastward on Lakeview Terrace about 5:15 pm December 13, lost control of the vehicle while approaching a curve and crossed into the westbound lane, striking an unoccupied 1999 Chevrolet Malibu, which was parked in a driveway, police said.

Schreiner was not injured. Police took no enforcement action.

Marijuana

State police report that after stopping motorist Gustavo Monsalve, 24, of Hartford on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 11, about 9:15 pm December 19, an investigation led to their charging Monsalve with possession of marijuana.

Monsalve posted a $1,000 bond for a December 29 appearance in Danbury Superior Court, state police said.

Tree Theft

Police report that after learning that they held a warrant for his arrest, Rocco Bonanducci, 61, of 101 Great Ring Road turned himself over to them on December 19 and was charged with sixth degree larceny.

Police allege that Bonanducci took a tree from Lexington Gardens at 32 Church Hill Road without paying for it on October 24. Police released Bonanducci on a $100 bond for a January 8 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Cellular Phone Missing

Police received a report of a lost cellular telephone on December 15. The silver-colored, flip-style phone was lost by its owner near the Super Stop & Shop supermarket in Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street. Anyone with information on the phone is asked to contact police at 426-5841.

Hattertown Road

Motorist Vladimir Zingman, 49, of Trumbull was driving a 1994 Range Rover near 12 Hattertown Road at about 6:50 am on December 22, when the vehicle encountered snowy/icy conditions, police said.

The northbound Range Rover went out of control and struck a tree, police said. Dodgingtown firefighters went to the accident. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Zingman to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said.

Police issued Zingman a written warning for failure to drive to the right.

Box Truck

Motorist Edward McGrath, 45, of 20 Edgewood Drive was driving a box truck near the intersection of Schoolhouse Hill Road and The Boulevard at about 4:30 pm December 22, when the truck was involved in an accident with an unknown driver in blue Honda, who then fled the scene, police said. The Honda sideswiped the truck, police said.

McGrath was not injured, police said. Police ask anyone with information on the accident to contact them.

Route 34 Crash

Motorist Laurence Buck, 29, of Hinesburg, Vt., was driving a 2000 Mazda Miata convertible eastward on Route 34 at about 2:45 am December 23, went the auto went out of control and struck a rocky embankment along the westbound road shoulder, police said.

Buck received a bump on the head, police said. The vehicle was totally destroyed. Police issued Buck an infraction ticket for failure to drive to the right.

Toddy Hill Mishap

Motorist Ellen Sutton, 30, of Fairfield, who was driving a 2003 Honda Accord southward on Toddy Hill Road about 3:30 pm December 17, slowed to avoid striking two animals in the road, police said.

Motorist Julie Goldstein, 22, of Monroe, who was driving a 1998 Dodge Ram van southward behind the Honda, tried to avoid striking the Honda but sideswiped it, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Goldstein a written warning for following too closely.

Dodge Vs Buick

Motorist Donna Djonne, 43, of 1 River Edge Road, who was driving a 1999 Dodge Caravan minivan westward on Church Hill Road at about 9 pm December 22, stopped and was waiting to make a left turn into the Blue Colony Diner parking lot, police said.

At that time, motorist Lincoln Peters, 57, of Waterbury was driving a 1988 Buick Skyhawk eastward there, police said.

As the Dodge made the left turn, the two vehicles collided, police said. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Donna Djonne and Dodge passengers Dayna Djonne and Cate Waterhouse to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said.

Police issued Donna Djonne an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.
