St Vincent’s To Offer Healing Grief Seminar

BRIDGEPORT — St. Vincent’s Pastoral Care Department will host a healing grief seminar on Thursday, January 12, from 6 to 7:30 pm. The program will be in the Seton Room, located on Level C of the Medical Center.

The program is free and open to the general public.

The program is for people experiencing grief following the death of a loved one. According to Dennis McCann, the director of pastoral care at St. Vincent’s, the presentation will help people understand their grief, and also help them and their loved ones cope with it.

The seminar will describe the natural grieving experience, and offer resources and recommendations that might be helpful during a stressful time.

Individuals may attend alone or bring a family member or friend. Participants will have the opportunity to join a small grief support group later if they desire.  No commitment to join the support group is necessary, however, to attend the healing grief seminar.

Dr McCann holds a PhD in humanities and has extensive experience in helping people through the process of grief.  He is also an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University, and has many years of experience giving presentations and facilitating groups based on a variety of themes.

The free professionally facilitated small support groups will begin to meet the week after the seminar and continue for seven consecutive weeks. Support group size is limited.

No registration is required for the seminar. Coffee will be served. Free parking is available with validation of ticket.

For more information, contact Dr McCann at St. Vincent’s, 203-576-5117.
