The Nighthawks attended the 53rd annual George Bossi Lowell Holiday Tournament at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Mass., on December 27. This is a primer event with some of the best wrestlers competing from across New England. Newtown had a small squad of only seven wrestlers, with most teams having 14 grapplers, but still managed to place 16th among 73 teams.

Newtown was the third highest-placing Connecticut team behind state powerhouses Fairfield Warde and Simsbury. Ben Plaue (126) was fourth, Stites (170) was fifth, and Luca Manfredi (132) was eighth.

The Hawks are set to host Bethel, Joel Barlow, and West Haven Thursday, December 30, during a special holiday week start time, beginning at 9 am. Check out the upcoming print editions for coverage.
