The Freshman Forum

To the Editor:

I want to remind all freshmen and their parents/guardians to please join their classmates for the Freshman Forum on Monday, April 12, at 7 pm at the NHS Auditorium. The evening will be comprised of six speakers, each of whom is an expert in the area of underage drinking. They will cover various legal, physical, emotional, and social aspects of underage drinking. It is the hope of our planning committee that this event will educate its attendants and prompt follow-up conversations.

This event is financially sponsored by the NHS PTSA, The Newtown Parent Connection, and Newtown Youth & Family Services, and many NHS staff have volunteered their time to work on this project. I encourage you to attend and I know that you will find the 1½ hours to be time well spent. For those of us with high school age children, there is a lot of new data out there that we need to understand so that we can work as a community to keep our children safe.

One last thing: the homeroom with the highest percentage of participation will receive a free lunch from the NHS Culinary Cafe! Please return your RSVPs to school or email us at newtownctptsa@yahoo.com .
