Bolinsky, Foncello And Laroche For Balance In Hartford
To The Editor:
Hartford has been run by the Democrat party for 30 years. A more balanced distribution of power in the Connecticut Legislature will benefit residents in many ways, regardless of party affiliation.
More accountability: When one party holds overwhelming control, there are fewer checks on legislation. A more balanced legislature encourages greater scrutiny, debate, and oversight before laws are passed.
More bipartisan solutions: With closer numbers, lawmakers need to work across party lines to build consensus which leads to policies that reflect a broader range of viewpoints.
Reduced risk of extreme policies: When power is shared more evenly, major policy changes require broader support and promotes stability.
Better public engagement: Competitive legislative districts often motivate elected officials to be more responsive to constituents because they cannot take voter support for granted.
Healthier democratic process: Debate, negotiation, and compromise are central features of representative government. A balance of power strengthens the process and encourages lawmakers to provide clear reasoning for their proposals.
Regardless of party, healthy government works best when there is real competition, meaningful debate, and strong oversight. A more balanced legislature encourages bipartisan solutions and ensures that all Connecticut residents have a stronger voice in Hartford. Vote for Mitch Bolinsky, Marty Foncello and Amybeth Laroche for more balance in Connecticut.
