Gaetano D’Amico

Gaetano D’Amico, 85, of 94 Knollwood Drive, Bethel, died at Mediplex of Danbury on May 22. He was the husband of Antonina (Drago) D’Amico and the father of Peter D’Amico of Newtown.

Mr D’Amico was born in Alta, Italy, December 7, 1915, a son of the late Gaetano and Gusepina (Panepinto) D’Amico. He immigrated from Italy to the United States in 1960, living in New Jersey until moving to Bethel in 1997 to be closer to his family.

Mr D’Amico worked as a landscaper all his life and served in the Italian Army during World War II. He was a parishioner of St Mary’s Church in Bethel and a member of the Bethel Senior Center. While in New Jersey, he was a member of the Elk’s Club and the Italian Club.

Besides his wife and son, he is survived by another son, Salvatore D’Amico of Bethel, and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Josephine Perna.

The funeral will be conducted from Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, Friday, May 25, at 2:30 pm, to a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St Mary’s Church, Bethel, at 3 pm. Entombment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J., on Saturday, May 26.

The family will receive friends at Bethel Funeral Home Friday morning from 11 am until leaving for the Mass at 2:30 pm.
