Play Reading Planned At Theater Barn
Play Reading Planned At Theater Barn
RIDGEFIELD â Ridgefield Theater Barn will host the fourth in its series of play readings of unproduced works by local authors on Tuesday, March 28, at 7:30 pm, with the world premiere of the drama Milton and the Minotaur, written by Myles Gansfried of South Salem, N.Y., and directed by Marie Ricci Gelston of Pawling, N.Y.
The staged reading series gives local playwrights an opportunity to have their work presented in a professional atmosphere and gives them constructive feedback through a talkback session with the audience immediately following the performance.
The plot concerns Milton, a spry widower retired from teaching high school art classes who spends his days communing with the great artistic works of New Yorkâs museums. There he endears himself to everyone by happily sharing his love of art, and pretending to be a close friend of Pablo Picasso.
This claim opens conversation with other gallery attendees like the artificially stylish Mildred, who is dragging her plumber husband through a self-imposed âcultural enrichmentâ program; Jackie, a brash probationary museum guard working under the watchful â and roving â eye of her overbearing supervisor, Raoul; and Suzanne, the serious, romantic, and gullible graduate art student.
When a crisis at the gallery threatens Jackieâs job, Suzanneâs career and Miltonâs life, Pablo and a Minotaur are implicated.
Cast for the reading includes Bruce Tredwell as Milton, Dawn Bernitt-Perito as Jackie, Margaret Carey as Mildred, Peter Lerman as Fred, Brian DeToma as Raoul, and Kirsten Edlund as Suzanne.
Ridgefield Theater Barn is at 37 Halpin Lane. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free, however donations to the barnâs building fund will be accepted and appreciated.
Seating is theater style for readings. Reservations are not required and doors open 20 minutes prior the performance.
