Searching For Ancestors From Scotland And Beyond
On Wednesday, April 14, at 7 pm, Peg Limbacher, vice president of the St Andrews Society of Connecticut, will speak to the Genealogy Club of Newtown. Her topic will be âGetting Started In Searching For Ancestors From Scotland And Beyond.â
After explaining the basics of this kind of family history research, Ms Limbacher will discuss the resources available at the St Andrews Societyâs library. She will also suggest tips and destinations for conducting genealogical research in Scotland.
Ms Limbacher serves on the board of the St Andrewâs Society of Connecticut, which sponsors programs about Scotlandâs heritage and culture. She is also secretary of the Connecticut Society of Genealogists.
Since Ms Limbacher began searching for her Scottish ancestors and relatives more than 30 years ago, she has studied in a number of specialized genealogy courses, including an intensive one-week program at the University of Stirling in Scotland.
The clubâs spring speaker series will continue on the evening of May 12, when Matthew Bielawa will give a talk about how to trace the roots of ancestors who came to the United States from Central and Eastern Europe.
All meetings of the Genealogy Club of Newtown take place at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
