So what, exactly, is a romantic garden?
âYouâll know it when you see it because it speaks to your soul,â says widely published writer and garden photographer Irene Jeruss.
Ms Jeruss will speak on the subject of âThe Romantic Garden â How Harmony and Beauty Can Elevate Your Garden to an Art Formâ on Thursday, September 14, at 7:30 pm, at Newtown Meeting House.
âI will encourage you to define your own personal vision for your dream garden ⦠Romance isnât really about the type of decoration or embellishment. It is about feelings and energy, about consciously choosing every element so that it comes together into a harmonious composition,â says Ms Jeruss.
Ms Jeruss has published articles and photographs in numerous calendars, books, and magazines, including Country Living Gardener, Horticulture Magazine, Birds and Blooms, and Womanâs Day Gardening & Deck Design.
In addition to her work as a photography, Ms Jeruss is an avid gardener. Her cottage garden, begun in 2003 shortly after moving to Bristol, was showcased as a âbefore and afterâ shot in the Spring 2004 issue of Rodaleâs House Garden magazine.
Ms Jerussâs presentation is sponsored by The Horticulture Club of Newtown and is open to the public at no charge. The program will run approximately 50 minutes, and Ms Jeruss will show between 80 to 100 slide images. A question and answer period will follow, with the audience members encouraged to share their favorite stories, tips, and experiences. Refreshments will be served.
Call club president Mavis Davis Hart at 426-6492 for additional information. The meeting house is at 31 Main Street, at the flagpole.
