Knowing When To Say Yes
Knowing When To Say Yes
To the Editor:
A seat on the Legislative Council has never been my goal. In fact, until I was invited to represent the Second District, I had ruled out a run for any elective office. But 30 yearsâ involvement in municipal politics has taught me many things, and one of them is to know when to say Yes.
Since moving to town with my wife and daughter seven years ago, Iâve had the pleasure of sampling a wide range of Newtown life; of meeting some genuine grassroots activists; and of making some small contributions where and when I could. These experiences inform my decision to offer my service, and shape my view of how I should represent my constituents.
Responsive, responsible representation is what I believe most Newtowners ask of their local elected officials. Over the next 15 weeks I look forward to establishing a conversation with the voters of the Second District, which I hope will be the beginning of that kind of relationship with their new councilman. If you are interested in that, I can be reached via email at councilmanchris@gmail.com, or you can call me at 364-1611.
This is an important election for our town, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Chris McArdle
