Joey Coelho

Coelho is a member of the Newtown High School track and field team — shot-put and discus — and plays football.

Favorite part about track: “It’s a good way of meeting new people, hanging out with friends and getting good advice,” said Coelho, adding that the team members all support each other in an effort to improve.

Toughest aspect: Waiting to compete for the extended time between events. “Over time, you’ll get rewarded,” Coelho added.

When he’s not playing sports: Enjoys riding dirt bikes and ATVs.

Favorite subject: Math.

Team he roots for: New York Jets.
