A Three-Point Plan For The Automakers
A Three-Point Plan
For The Automakers
To the Editor:
Giving more money to our US auto industry is not going to help them! I would like to offer the following three-prong approach to save our US auto manufactures.
1. Instead of the federal government giving money to the automakers, it would be better to have the federal government issue a $1,000 rebate to anyone who purchases a vehicle (car or truck) from the Big 3 â Chrysler, GM, or Ford, regardless of the model, or the cost of the vehicle.
2. The CEOâs of the Big 3 Auto Companies need to go before the American public on National TV and Radio and make the following statement: âStarting tomorrow, any vehicle you purchase from us, (Chrysler, GM, or Ford) weâll back it up with a six-year bumper to bumper warranty, no exceptions! Thatâs right, our foreign competition gives you a three-year warrantyâ¦starting tomorrow, weâll back every one of our vehicles with a six-year bumper to bumper warranty, no exceptions! We believe in our vehicles, we want you to believe in us, because we believe in America!â
3. The federal government has helped a number of banks in our country. Now it is time for those banks to do something, to help America. Those banks that received a bailout should give a one percent auto loan to anyone who purchases an American vehicle from the Big 3 automakers. The banks will still make a profit, and this will be a great incentive to finance a vehicle.
I believe that this three-prong approach can get our American automotive economic engine starting to turn again. It will get consumers to the dealerships to purchase vehicles, the dealers will put in more orders, and that will get the parts suppliers cranking out the parts again. It is time to give the American public a real reason to purchase vehicles from the Big 3 automakers. This is not a handout. This is a plan that can be implemented without delay. I have also sent President Obama and Senators Lieberman and Dodd, as well as the CEOâs of the Big 3 a copy of this proposal.
Letâs see what happens, or doesnât. Letâs hope for the positive!
