Adelmo J. âDelâ Albano, 77, of Danbury, husband of Rose (Russo) Albano, died at Danbury Hospital, April 9. He was born in Danbury, a son of James and Lucrezia (DeLucia) Albano.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, including Gloria Barry of Newtown; two daughters; three grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr Albano served in the Army during the Korean War. He proudly served with the City of Danbury Fire Department from June 6, 1963, to November 2, 1996, retiring at the rank of lieutenant. He was a longtime member and past president of Local 801 Danbury Professional Firefighters Association, the International Association of Firefighters, the Danbury Association of Retired Firefighters, Amerigo Vespucci Lodge, Korean War Veterans Association, and was a past president of the Danbury Council of Veterans and longtime member of St Joseph Church. He was an avid hunter, loved to travel, and had an amazing green thumb.
The family would like to thank the staff of Danbury Hospital, especially Dr Janaka Periyapperuma, nurses Georgia Vrablik and Catherine Vagami and nursesâ aide,Terri Read, as well as the staff at Bethel Health Care.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 13. Entombment followed at St Peter Cemetery Mausoleum.
