Extra Patrols For The Holiday

Town police plan to focus extra attention on motor vehicle violations Friday, April 21, and Saturday, April 22, when they put extra patrols on the road to enforce drunken driving laws and seatbelt laws.

Through a state Department of Transportation grant, town police will put overtime patrols on the road to enforce laws on drunken driving, seatbelts, and child restraints, according to Sergeant_Christopher Vanghele.

Extra police will travel local roads in the enforcement program from 3 pm April 21 to 3 am April 22, and from 3 pm April 22 to 3 am April 23.

Through the grant program, police later this year will provide more enforcement, plus sobriety checkpoints. The grant program covers 75 percent of the local costs of placing the extra police patrols on the road.
