Tickets Now Available For Annual NYS Fundraiser

The 25th anniversary of Newtown Youth Services will be celebrated at 7 pm on Saturday, March 13 at the Fireside Inn, when Bob Tendler holds his fifth annual fundraising dinner-dance and auction for the local organization.

The event will feature an eight-piece band, Third Shift, as well as plenty of dancing until midnight. There will be a silent auction and live auctions including such items as artwork; four tickets to a Yankees game donated by Pepsi; a week at a three-bedroom vacation home in Colorado; and an all-inclusive four-day trip to Mexico or the Dominican Republic, donated by Christopher Tichy of Cruise & Vacation Center in Monroe.

A special guest performance of a scene from the Newtown High School production, Les Miserables, will be followed by the auction of dinner for four plus tickets for a performance.

Claudia Coopersmith and Linda Pickwick, along with Hollandia Nursery, are making 40 basket centerpieces that will also be auctioned. Cyndi DeMarco and Cheryl Barbour are in charge of the silent auction.

Newtown Youth Services (NYS) is a nonprofit agency founded in 1979 to improve the quality of life in the community through activities that bond young people positively to their families, schools, peers, and community. In the past year, NYS has sponsored such activities as after-school programs for middle school and elementary school students, a Job Bank for youth ages 13 to 17, monthly fathers’ nights, a new mothers’ support group, Super Sitters, and Positive Parenting.

Tickets are $40 each and may be purchased, while they last, at Bob Tendler Real Estate and the  NYS office at 41-A Main Street next to the Newtown Savings Bank. Tables of ten also may be reserved. For more information call 270-4335 or 426-5679.
