SNAPSHOT ANNE RAGUSA

Occupation: Attorney, general practice. We do real estate planning, and

probate, and persoanl injury litigation. I've been in practice since 1991.

What do you find most fulfilling about your work: Just coming up on a year

ago, Jim Storer and I formed this firm. At first I was commuting down to

Southport; a few years ago I moved my practice to town. It's wonderful to be

practicing here in Newtown with my neighbors and others in the community. It

really allowed me to be more involved in the community. As an attorney, what I

do is a lot of problem-solving. It's nice to do that with the people you live

with. That makes it very rewarding for me.

Family: I'm married; my husband is Jamie Morris. We have three children,

Kristyn, Andrea, and Seth.

How long in Newtown: Since 1989.

Biggest change in town: There a lot of development. But something specific

would be the mural at town hall that David Merrill has been working on over

the years. How wonderful it is to watch it evolve and how lucky we are to have

that. It's more "hidden," but it's a wonderful change.

Hobbies: Quilting - I love to quilt. I do patchwork, traditional quilt

patterns. Right now I'm working on a 12-block sampler. Each block is a

different, traditional pattern like Ohio star, log cabin, Dresden plate,

grandmother's garden, and Jacob's ladder. I've spent the past few weekends

planting flowers like crazy, the weather has been so nice. Practicing law and

having kids is what I do pretty much full time.

Do you like to read: I like to read very much. I just finished The English

Patient . Favorite author: I love Lawrence Durrell, he was a contemporary of

Hemingway's. And I absolutely love Faulkner. I've read The Sound and the Fury

numerous times.

Organizations: I just finished a term as co-president of Newtown Business and

Professional Women. I'm on the board of directors of Newtown Chamber of

Commerce, and I'm on the board of directors of the Children's Adventure

Center. Those are the "biggies." Of course I'm a member of professional

associations such as the Bar Association. I'm also a member of St Rose Church.

Favorite place outdoors in Newtown: I love to take my son to the town park.

It's a really nice spot, and he can explore the playscape.

Favorite food: Bagels. Lately, that's my favorite food. I go into Bagelman at

least once a day.

Do you enjoy music: I listen to classic rock and roll, and I also like

classical music.

Personal philsophy: It sounds cliche, but - The Golden Rule of doing unto

others. Life is too complicated otherwise.
