Dreams Become Reality
To the Editor:
Halleluiah! Hip Hip Hooray to the Parks and Recreation Department, the Parks and Recreation Commission, the Fairfield Hills Authority, and First Selectman Herbert C. Rosenthal! March 22, 2007, was our lucky day! The generosity that you have showed has made us feel that you understand why this is so important to us. We asked you to give us something you didnât have to give, a piece of land needed to make a dream come true [the creation of a skate park]. We have so much gratitude that you felt our cause was worthy of such a valuable gift, and that you decided to give it to us.
You have made it possible for us to begin working toward a goal that will prove to be worthwhile in many ways, and will be sure to make many smiles. This gift that you have given us shows us how awesome and kind you are. Our children, who are so dear to us, and always on our minds, will someday have a safe place to go, a home in which to call their own.
The most meaningful part of what youâve done, is show us that you truly care. It is something we all need to do more of, and we all have to do our share. Caring is a word thatâs true meaning requires action. The action needs to come from us all, because we need a lot of it. The world we live in today can be so difficult for all of us, especially a child. The greatest tool we have to help our children to grow up the way they should is to show them how much we care. We need to tell them that we know how hard it can be for them to grow up right in a world that can sometimes feel so wrong.
This is not as hard as many people think it is, if we can make the town we live in a place with many safe options and fun things to do. Then, growing up happy, safe and right, will be an easier thing to do. So, to all of you who have decided to give us this gift, we know it came from your heart. We want you to know that it is greater than you would ever think. On behalf of all the kids and their families that this project means so very much to, we thank you. We are on the way to making our dream a reality!
