Montessori Plans New Facilities Just Over The Bethel Line
The Newtown Montessori Society is proposing that a new Montessori School
complex be built on Route 302 in Bethel, just over the Newtown town line.
The Bethel Planning and Zoning Commission has scheduled a public hearing on
the proposal for Tuesday, August 12, at 7:30 pm at Bethel Municipal Center, 1
School Street, Bethel.
The society wants to build a new school on a 16-acre parcel on Route 302 in
Bethel, adjacent to the Newtown town line. The land is on the south side of
Route 302.
The project would be built in phases, with the initial phase involving the
construction of a 7,000-square-foot building. Future phases would add more
educational facilities.
The proposed construction work would be 350 feet west of the Newtown town
line, and about 650 feet west of Shelly Road's intersection with Route 302.
The envisioned school would serve 295 students, about 90 of whom would be
part-time students.
Newtown Montessori School now has facilities in Dodgingtown Center on Route
302 and Jacklin Road.
