Kids Complete Vacation Church School
(with cuts)
Ninety children from four local churches completed the Ecumenical Vacation
Church School last Friday with a family worship service at Trinity Episcopal
Church.
The children, from pre-school to sixth grade, came from St Rose of Lima, the
Newtown United Methodist Church, Newtown Congregational Church and Trinity
Episcopal for the annual week-long Bible school, which was hosted this year by
Trinity.
This year's theme was "God's Kids in Action." Oona Mulligan served as the
church school coordinator.
At the service, the Rev John H. Potter, associate rector at Trinity, gave the
opening remarks and led the children, their teachers and family members in
prayer. The children sang "God Made Me," "All God's Children At the Fair," "In
God's House," and "Ordinary Kid."
A recognition luncheon was held afterwards for the teachers and their helpers.
They included: three-year-olds class, Vivian Michalka and Noreen Sherman;
pre-kindergarten, Melissa Hanna, Melissa Thompson; kindergarten, Becky
Bombero, Cara O'Neill, Catherine Symes, Brooke Johnson and Chris Symes; grades
one and two, Linda Schwartz, Cara Toller; grades three and four, Beverly
Jackson, Tricia O'Brien, Brian Kotwicki, Melanie Sell; grades five and six,
Julie Cioffoletti.
Recreation coordinators included Kevin Johnstone, Matt Nahabedian, James
Dellasala; helpers, Jackie Franke, Katie Franke.
Martha Campbell-Galie was the music coordinator.
Eileen Byrnes was the food coordinator. She was assisted by Beth David,
Jennifer Kolf, Pam Midlik, Donna O'Connor and Nancy Dugdale.
