School Board Picks A Principal For Hawley
Hawley School will soon have a new principal, Jo-Ann Peters, from Wallingford.
The Board of Education approved hiring her Tuesday night and will announce the
date that she will begin in the near future.
Mrs Peters has worked as the assistant principal of East Haddam Elementary
School in Moodus, Conn., since 1996. Prior to that she was a curriculum
specialist at Webster Hill School in West Hartford for a year.
From 1993 to 1995 she supervised 11 interns and ten teaching assistants in
seven of West Hartford's ten elementary schools with a program entitled A
Better Chance for Success ("ABC's") - Kindergarten Intervention Programs.
Mrs Peters also has 13 years experience as an elementary classroom teacher.
She holds a sixth year degree in educational leadership from the University of
Connecticut (magna cum laude); a master's degree in special education from
Central Connecticut State University (summa cum laude); and a bachelor of
science degree in elementary education from Eastern Connecticut State
University (cum laude).
