Weather Did Not Slow The Crowds Or Sales For SCAN
Even with icy conditions during the opening evening of the Society of Creative
Art's "Color in January" Show and Sale at Lexington Gardens in January, the
group show has been deemed a "great success" by SCAN president Pamela
Danneman.
A large crowd showed up for the show's opening reception on January 15, and
visitors were reported during the run of the show throughout the week.
"In spite of Nature's thwarting our every move, the show at Lexington Gardens
was a huge success!," Mrs Danneman wrote in the February 1999 edition of SCAN
Ink , the club's newsletter. "Many people remarked that the quality of the
show was one the best SCAN has sponsored."
For the January 15-27 event, 49 member artists entered a total of 166
paintings. Of this number, 26 of the artworks sold for a total sales gross of
$5,870. Net proceeds to SCAN members was $4,696. The majority of the paintings
that sold were in the $100 to $200 range; five paintings priced over $300
sold, including two in the $800/900 range.
