Mrs Cartoun's Ace Helpers

(with cuts)

Second graders at Head O' Meadow helped classroom volunteer Bonita Cartoun get

an "A" on a teaching exam.

Mrs Cartoun had been a paraprofessional at HOM for ten years, and had recently

returned to college. She came back to volunteer in Janice Bernard's second

grade class three mornings a week.

While the teachers-in-training at Western Connecticut State University

prepared foods and games to represent cultural diversity, the kids in Janice

Bernard's second grade class made beautiful pictures of cultural diversity for

Mrs Cartoun to take to her exam.

Mrs Cartoun said "these children worked very hard, with no thought of personal

gain. They wanted to help me get an 'A.'" And, Mrs Cartoun is pleased to

announce that she did get an "A."
