Kindergarten Classrooms Proposed For HOM

Head O' Meadow is slated to get two new kindergarten rooms this summer.

The Newtown Board of Education reviewed plans for Head O' Meadow School

prepared by Rusty Malik of Kaestle Boos Associates.

John Reed, Superintendent of Schools for Newtown, commented that there are two

purposes for the renovations.

The first necessity is to meet current building codes.

The second is to reconfigure undersized kindergarten classrooms.

Rusty Malik said that by dovetailing the two projects, the board would get

better prices on the construction work.

Rusty Malik gave a cost estimate for the whole project at $834,000.

With an estimated state reimbursement for 35 percent of the cost, the net cost

to Newtown would be $542,000.
