Hearings Set On Three Subdivisions
The Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) will consider three separate
residential subdivision proposals consisting of 43 building lots on almost 360
acres when it meets Thursday, November 21.
Three public hearings on the proposals will start at 8 pm at Newtown Middle
School auditorium. The P&Z's regular business meeting will start there at 7:30
pm.
Blakeman Construction, a limited liability corporation, is seeking approval
for the "Rollingwood" resubdivision, consisting of 17 lots on almost 271
acres. The land is on the northerly side of New Lebbon Road.
The Rollingwood proposal is a resubmission of a development plan which was
approved by the P&Z in the past. It's being resubmitted for technical reasons.
John and Nanci Kalas, the property owners, and Avalon Developers, LLC, the
proposed developers, are seeking approval for "Avalon," a 16-lot development
on almost 54 acres. The property is on the north side of High Bridge Road,
near the Newtown/Monroe border.
The Avalon proposal was controversial among area residents who questioned
aspects of the project's wetlands construction work when Avalon was pending
before the Conservation Commission.
M&E Land Group has applied for "Tamarack Woods," involving 10 building lots on
almost 33 acres. The land lies within the triangle formed by Tamarack Road,
Sanford Road, and Echo Valley Road.
The Tamarack Woods proposal is a revision of a previous development plan which
was withdrawn from consideration by M&E Land Group after area residents
strongly opposed it.
