SNAPSHOT FOR NOVEMBER 29 ISSUE Jo Ann Peck

Occupation: I work at Gordon Fraser, I've been there just a year now. I'm a

"picker-packer" - I pick merchandise off the shelves and pack it. So I work in

the warehouse.

How long in Newtown: I moved to Newtown when I was in the 7th grade, and I've

been out of school 31 years!

Biggest change in town: The traffic, the building. We moved into our house in

1983 - they've put in two developments [nearby] since then, and two more are

coming. The traffic is unreal. They're putting in more roads and not hiring

men to maintain them. I think it's just great to have the flagpole in the

middle of the road, the flag flying and the church behind - because it's been

there. I know there's a lot of controversy about it, but that's Newtown.

That's our symbol. You can see the flagpole and the church steeple from my

road and every night I look for that.

Family: I'm married; my husband's name is Raymond David. I have a daughter,

Kimberly Ann, 28, and a son, David Allan, 23.

Pets: One dog, Sandy, and I have one cat, Tiny.

Hobbies: I collect porcelein dolls, sun catchers - I have 165 sun catchers,

and I like to read. I like Danielle Steel, Victoria Holt. I read just about

anything but those are my favorite authors. I'm a fan of NASCAR stock car

racing; I like to watch it. On my 40th birthday, I was talking to the kids and

told them when I was a kid we couldn't afford dolls. They started giving me

dolls. In ten years, I have 65 dolls, most are Ashly Drake or Danbury Mint.

Organizations: When my kids were young, I was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout

leader. But now, I'm president of the Ladies' Auxillary VFW Post 308 here in

town.

Favorite food: Cheesecake and lemon meringue pie.

Personal philosophy: My father always preaches to take one day at a time. I

try to live by that. Don't take life too seriously and let it get you down.
