Special One-Day Show—

Art & Illustrations Of Daniel Brown At Greenwich Workshop

FAIRFIELD — The Greenwich Workshop Gallery will present works by the nationally acclaimed artist and illustrator Daniel Brown at its Fairfield gallery, 1657 Post Road, on Sunday, March 24, from 4 to 7 pm. Mr Brown will be on hand during a wine and cheese reception to meet with collectors and discuss the way he uses light and shadow to create extraordinarily life-like paintings.

Newtown resident and Greenwich Workshop Publisher and President Scott Usher is thrilled with the opportunity to exhibit Mr Brown’s work at the gallery.

“Dan’s ability to capture on canvas what appear to be specific flashes of life in real time is extraordinary,” said Mr Usher. “His still life oils and watercolors will take you by surprise as you note the realism in the shapes and textures of each of his paintings.”

Gallery director Chris Usher, says “Dan’s painting almost have a photographic quality to them.”

Dan Brown is as accomplished oil painter, watercolorist and illustrator. He was born in Syracuse, N.Y., in 1949. While still in high school he enrolled in art classes at both Syracuse University and Everson Museum. He later attended The Paier College of Art in New Haven, which was a very traditional art school that emphasized the basics and focused on painting and drawing from life.

After graduation, Mr Brown became a successful illustrator with clients such as Xerox, Disney, Reader’s Digest and the Pentagon.

Mr Brown eventually turned his focus from illustration to a career in fine art. Since he spent most of his time focusing on depictions of objects as an illustrator, still life painting was the logical choice for him. Richly hued, spare, almost photo-realistic compositions have become his trademark style of painting.
