Adams Named Head Planning & Zoning
Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) members have elected member Stephen Adams
of Sandy Hook as their new chairman for a one-year term.
Mr Adams, who became a P&Z alternate member two years ago and later became a
regular member, was unanimously elected to the post by the agency's five
regular and three alternate members in voting at the panel's January 4
meeting.
Mr Adams, an attorney, replaces John Deegan of Dodgingtown as the chairman of
the agency, which interprets the town's zoning and planning regulations.
Mr Deegan, who served eight years as the P&Z's chairman, was elected as the
agency's vice chairman without opposition. Former P&Z member Victor Roy had
served as vice chairman during the past year.
P&Z members reelected Heidi Winslow as their secretary for another one-year
term.
Member Todd Richardson nominated Mr Adams for the chairmanship. There were no
other nominations.
Ms Winslow nominated Mr Deegan for the vice chairmanship. John DeFilippe
nominated Ms Winslow to the secretary's post.
Ms Winslow, an attorney who is second in seniority on the P&Z, read a
resolution endorsed by P&Z members honoring Mr Deegan for his years of work as
chairman on the land use panel.
Mr Deegan thanked the panel members for the work they have done in recent
years in deciding on development proposals, saying the membership has
cooperated in reviewing land use matters.
Mr Deegan said he looks forward to continuing his work as a P&Z member during
the two years that remain on his four-year elective term of office.
