Youth Services Honored

By Children’s Trust Fund

On April 17, Newtown Youth Services (NYS) was one of 14 agencies or programs statewide to be recognized at the Connecticut Children’s Trust Fund’s (CTF) Annual Awards and Recognition Reception at the state capitol.

NYS will receive a grant from the CTF for the 2000-2001 school year for a program for parents of children with special needs.

The program, which will also be funded by a grant from The Swindells Charitable Foundation, is open to any Newtown area parent with a child with special needs, whether due to physical, educational or emotional challenges.

This is the third consecutive year NYS has received a grant from the CTF.

NYS programs that have received funding by CTF in the past have been this year’s Father’s Night program and last year’s publication of the monthly Parents Idea Exchange, a parenting newsletter.

For more information about the fall 2000 special needs group, call Youth Services at 270-4335. The NYS offices are at 41-A Main Street in Newtown.
